British Red Cross The British Red Cross has been putting kindness into action for 150 years. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement’s fundamental principle of Humanity guides British Red Cross staff and volunteers as they connect human kindness with human suffering in communities in the UK and all over the world. The charity works to ensure that no-one has to face a crisis alone.
Samaritans Charity Samaritans is a charity working across the UK and Ireland to reduce the number of people who take their own lives. Every day, Samaritans volunteers answer around 10,000 calls for help. We are there for anyone who is struggling to cope – day or night, 365 days a year. We campaign for suicide prevention and take action to prevent people reaching crisis point, helping people gain ways to cope and learn the skills to be there for others.
Refuweegee Charity Our aim is to enable the existing community in extending the friendly welcome that Glasgow is world renowned for. We do this through our welcome packs, our events and our volunteer opportunities. We try to provide everyone who wishes to get involved with an opportunity to do so; be it through writing a letter, donating essential items, joining us at an event or fundraising.
Make 2nds Count Make 2nds Count are a UK charity who work with professional experts, patients and families to offer support and fund medical research of secondary breast cancer – a treatable but incurable disease. Through our work, we strive to help empower people diagnosed with this disease to live a better quality of life. It is estimated over 37,000 people in the UK are living with secondary breast cancer. Shooting Star Children's Hospices Shooting Star Children’s Hospices cares for 700 children with life-limiting conditions, and their families across London and Surrey. We support families from diagnosis, to end of life and throughout bereavement, with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. It costs £8.8 million a year just to maintain our current level of care; we rely on the generosity of our supporters to keep the service running. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, we are here to make every moment count.

Home Start Glasgow South Home-Start Glasgow South is a leading family support charity in the Southside of Glasgow. We believe that Childhood Can’t Wait and our aim is to ensure that children have the best possible start in life. We understand that being a parent can be daunting and for many can be extremely challenging. We work with families who have at least one child up to 8 years old. We support and empower families to cope with challenges that are impacting on family life, such as poor mental health, poverty, isolation, health issues, domestic abuse, addictions, bereavement, single parenting, or multiple births.
Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home is a charity which works to rescue, reunite and rehome stray, lost and abandoned dogs and cats throughout the East of Scotland. The Home accepts any dog or cat in need and works tirelessly to secure loving forever homes. It costs £2 million every year to run the Home’s services. With no regular government funding, we rely on the generosity of supporters to fund its work.
